Sudan: 13 children killed in clashes between army and FSR

In Sudan, fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has left 13 children dead, adding to the humanitarian tragedy unfolding in the country, where the conflict has already claimed the lives of thousands of civilians.

Children, new victims of an endless conflict
Sudan is sinking deeper into chaos with each passing day. In the recent violence between the national army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), thirteen children have lost their lives. These young, innocent victims were caught in the shelling that has rained down on several civilian areas. The violence has particularly affected the town of Al Kuma, where the army has carried out heavy airstrikes, in a region already marked by incessant conflict for over a year. The fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF continues to ravage the country, causing thousands of civilian casualties.

UNICEF and other international organizations have denounced these brutal attacks on children and civilians. Sheldon Yett, UNICEF Representative in Sudan, expressed his outrage at the tragedy: "These children should have been safe, safe from this senseless violence."

Darfur, a region on the brink
The most recent violence has erupted mainly in Darfur, a region already battered by decades of ethnic and political conflict. The conflict between the army and the RSF has plunged millions of people into a major humanitarian crisis. According to reports, more than 20,000 people have already lost their lives since the start of the civil war in 2023, and nearly 10 million Sudanese have been displaced, fleeing the fighting to seek refuge in neighboring countries such as Chad and South Sudan.

The power-hungry forces show no signs of letting up. Strikes, air raids, and fighting on the ground continue to claim civilian lives, especially children. Sudan appears to be sinking into a spiral of violence, leaving little hope for a lasting ceasefire.
